Magdalene "Margaret" (Sosnowski) Wersching, 97, was born April 4,1915, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Alexander and Anna (Ilkow) Sosnowski. She lived in Chicago until moving to Riverdale in the early 1980's, followed by Coal City in 2007. She spent her last year in Dwight, Illinois, where she passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Heritage Health. Margaret was introduced to Joseph John Wersching, Jr. by her sister, Mary. The two were later married on April 25, 1936, and two children were born to this union. Margaret was an active member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Chicago with fond memories of time spent selling raffle tickets and taking care of the tilt-a-whirl at the church carnival. She was a gifted artist, having been offered two scholarships in her youth, and a talented sewing stylist, conducting sewing classes out of her home and for Else of California. She was devoted to her family, enjoyed traveling, and will be remembered for her strong faith, pizzelle cookies, and love of Snoopy and chocolate. Margaret is survived by her sister Mary Gayer of Pleasant Hill, CA, her children, JoAnn (Roger) Barbero of Atlantic, Iowa, and Allen (Carol) Wersching of Coal City, Illinois; her grandchildren, Deanna (Don) Gammell, Christine (Preston) Nelson, Melanie (Darrin) Petty, and Caryn (Kevin) Just, all of Atlantic, Iowa, Stacey (Darren) Roach of Coal City, Illinois, and Brian (Kristine) Wersching of Bellevue, Nebraska; her great-grandchildren, Adam Nelson, Kate (Josh) Hepler, Laena Frederickson, Hannah Just, Madeline Nelson, and Grant Petty, all of Atlantic, Iowa, McKenna and Hayleigh Roach of Coal City, Illinois, and Liam Wersching of Bellevue, Nebraska; her great-great-grandchildren, McKenna Nelson, and Jaxon and Holland Hepler, all of Atlantic, Iowa; nieces, nephews and friends. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 1999; her parents, Alex and Anna Sosnowski; her great-grandson, Trevor Frederickson; her brother-in-law, Rudolph Gayer; her sisters-in-law, Ann (Frank) Lill, and Mary (Edwin) Cusick; her nephews, Robert Lill and Richard Lill and the late Donald Cusick and her niece, Delores Neubeck. Visitation Saturday December 22, 9am until the time of service at 10:30am at the Tews Funeral Home 18230 Dixie Highway in Homewood. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
